The term Messianic Jew, is a very unfortunate term with great misleading aspects. This terms by its very nature seems to imply that there are 4 groupings of humans; Jew, Gentiles, Christians and Messianic Jew. This is not only a false assumption but a contradiction of scripture.
The Holy Bible clear distinguishes three groups of humans, Jews, Gentiles and Christians. Before the calling out of Abram, there was only one group - the sons of Adam. After the calling out of Abraham there were two groups; the called out ones and the Gentiles. Through Abraham, Isaac and the Jacob the called out ones became known as Israel or Jews.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, ushered in a third group; Christians, who are neither Jews nor Gentiles Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek [gentile], slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus, but a whole new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.
The term Messianic Jew is an effort to try and fill new wine, Jesus Christ, into the old wine skins, Jewish law, and this is a great tragedy. It further tries to divide the Household of God into two groups Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians - but this cannot be as the old title disappear with the Newness of Christ Jesus.
One question that one must ask: is there any practicing Jew who does not believe in the Messiah? - the answer is a resounding no, all practicing Jews believe in the Messiah but no Jews believe that Jesus is the messiah, once a Jew believe that Jesus is the Messiah, he or she moves from being a Jew to become a Christian.
